The article focuses on the study of the color terms of Modern German as units of primary and secondary nomination in the novels
of E.M. Remarque. The article highlights the color terms as a linguistic sign. Their role in the linguistic nomination is investigated
according to the theory of the conceptual metaphor and metonymy.
