English terminology in the field of information technologies and its adaptation in the ukrainian language

Abstract

The English-language IT vocabulary represents one of the most important and productive strata of contemporary Ukrainian lexicon. Ukrainian language absorbs it quite organically via ongoing globalisation and digitalisation. This flexibility and resistance can be seen in the productivity of calques that preserve its structure and meaning context, vigor of hybrids that add spice to colloquial speech, and diversity of approaches the Ukrainian language uses to absorb them into its terminology, all for the purpose of both being understood and preserving identity. So it easily adapts to working in international environments while also showing its potential for growth with changing technologies.
